Turns out Oberlin won’t let us screen films – even for just us – unless we get the permission of the distribution companies, i.e. pay them a ton of money for the right to screen the movie.
Balls.
So we’re back to square one. We’re thinking just commandeering the lobby of whichever dorm has the nicest screen and hookup, and using that to screen movies 3 or 4 times a week in the evenings. So, we would love suggestions. South or North lobbies were mentioned, do either of those have working DVD players? Even better, does anyone know where we can get a projector so we can screen movies on a large wall somewhere?
